My nemesis is not so much NC as it is brick and mortar shops.  I decided to check out the new chain tobacco shop.  I always go to a local Newsstand if I buy anything NC.  The owner there is a long time smoker and usually has old stuff he puts away such as the old Henry  clay cigars Pete Johnson made famous.   So all that said I usually have bad experiences at most BM shops.  The humidity the same selections.  I was happy to see some Caldwell so grabbed a Robusto.

On to the review already.   The weather has been wretched here in Michigan.  The only thing more depressing is the upcoming 2020 election.   We had a nice day ha.  So I lit up a nice stick to review.

First 3rd

Boom pepper out of the gates.  This is how most of today's NC taste to me.  Sigh...  the retro is harsh and burns.  The draw is perfect.   As it progresses it has pepper with a surprising dark chocolate mixed with molasses cookies that are a tad well done.

Half way and it has some body.  Still peppery with a burned sugar background coming in.  The smoke leaves a lingering taste on the palate.  I don't enjoy this.  There are definitely hints of dark roast and chocolate.   The draw is still perfect.  Just a breeze to smoke.

Final 3rd and the flavors are still mostly pepper.  It is a solid smoke but the lingering taste is bothering me.  The flavors have become more robust so to speak.  A deeper nutty dark roast flavor is there with the burned sugar.  Overall quite a few great notes.  I put it down as it got to the end it was hot and too damn peppery.

It was a solid smoke with bit of a nicotine kick.  A good smoke to switch it up from the usual CC.
