I'm off to Belize in a couple weeks for a trip.  I plan to bring many of my own cigars but was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for anything cigar related or not!  If there are local Belizean cigars, I'd love to hear about them and where to try them!

Well, in case anyone ever goes to Belize, bring your own cigars.  I went to about 4 stores in different parts of the country and it was fakes galore and Cohiba glasstops.  Could not find a single legit Cuban anywhere--it was pretty crazy how entire stores were full of fake cellophaned Cubans with low quality fake bands.

Billy, please give us a photos of these fakes in the “suspected cigar forum” section, it will be interesting emoji106.png

I didn't take any pictures as the cigar store owners weren't very friendly so I didn't want to take pictures, but every single cigar they had was in cellophane...lots of glasstop, obviously poor quality cigars, and fake bands...

My business partner owns property in Belize and goes there frequently.  I haven't heard of any Belizean cigars.

He has brought back "Cuban" cigars a couple of times.  They were such terrible fakes I trashed them for fear of what I might actually be smoking.  He now takes photos of the serial numbers from the stores that keep insisting that they are legit before buying any and I have NEVER verified one as being authentic.  If you want to smoke a Cuban cigar in Belize, you'd better bring it yourself.  Honduras and Nicaragua aren't too far away from Belize so they might have decent NCs but I've had no reason to trust the vendors in Belize.

I wish I had taken a picture of the fakes just for the laughs but I didn't.

I bought two boxes at the Belize City airport duty free on my last trip. One store had fakes and one store had legit cigars albeit with limited selection. First box I asked to open was full of cigar beetle droppings, then fresher boxes (from the backstore) looked good. I made sure to put them in the freezer upon my return home...
