Twitter Suspends Cuban Media Accounts

I wasn't able to find any reason behind it, but I' glad twitter is going after the real villains. ?

According to 14yMedio - the independent  Cuban newspaper by Yoani Sanchez, the Twitter accounts of most gvt. officials have been disabled by Twitter for "por violar las reglas de Twitter" ( violate Twitter rules ).

She writes that now the "official Cuban press is clamoring about press freedom" but they had never complained about restrictions to Cuban dissident press media.

According to the BBC :

The social media giant cited violations of its policies.

The move came just as President Miguel Díaz-Canel made a televised statement about potential fuel shortages.

Cuba's pro-government journalists' union denounced the suspensions as "massive censorship".

"What is new here is the massive scope of this act of cybernetic warfare, clearly planned, that aims to limit the freedom of expression of Cuban institutions and citizens and to silence the leaders of the revolution," the union said in a statement.
