ARVET7 Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Football is back my friends!!! In just a few days, the 2019-2020 college football season will kick off! (pun intended?) Let's discuss the upcoming season!!! The good, the bad, the ugly, the hopeful surprises you want to see, your favorite team, games you're going to, and of course new years 6 predictions!!! I am a Notre Dame fan through and through (rough I know), I will be in attendance at the Louisville on Sept 2nd to start the season, and I'm thinking "this will be our year!!!" ? However, I'm not putting any bets on that last statement! What are all of your thoughts!? 1
MD Puffer Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 I predict the Irish will fall to the Dawgs- by double digits. Michigan will be a good game. SC should be a good game but who knows at this point. Stanford? Eh, maybe? The remaining games are fluff that ND has to deal with handily if it wants to remain ranked. Clemson to lead the AAC, Sooners in the Big 12, and the Big 10 depends on who controls the East- they're strong this year, also strong is PAC 12 North, and I personally believe the SEC is up for grabs (Ole Miss excluded naturally). ND needs to pull off several big wins if they lose to Georgia to end up in the top 4 and that's going to be tough without a conference championship game (translation- join a conference already). Big Ten and SEC are going to have a ton of awesome games and a lot of inevitable upsets. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that the next championship game will be Bama v. Clemson. Clemson will need to have some blow out games given its powderpuff schedule (A&M aside) and Bama has an uphill battle with (that same) A&M team in addition to TN (though unranked), LSU, and Auburn. If they can dominate in those games they'll stay atop the rankings but they'll likely end up in Atlanta facing off with the Dawgs again. Personally, I don't think Tua can handle that battering and that it was a mistake to replace Hurts (who is now starting for the Sooners). Regardless, this season comes down to ten or fewer teams and unless several major upsets occur ND doesn't end up in the top 4 for post season games.
SmokyFontaine Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 As long as the Oregon Ducks fall flat on their faces and are exposed as a poorly coached, hype-driven program, then my entire college football year is made. The rest are just details. 1
ShortFatHokie Posted August 22, 2019 Posted August 22, 2019 Coming off a not so good season that had players fighting with other players and coaches, a bunch of bad attitudes, and an overall lack of desire to perform their best, not sure how my Hokies will do this season. With over a dozen upperclassmen heading to the exit of the transfer portal, this is going to be a virtually "new" team. There are only 4 seniors on the roster, so the "youth movement" is in full swing. Coach Fu has "his boys" in there now...time to make hay. If they don't, this year could be another disaster and Coach Fu may be on the hot seat. They'll should go anywhere from 7-5 to 9-3...worse than 7-5 someone might be history, better than 9-3, the fans will be extremely happy and ready to call Coach Fu the 2nd coming of Frank Beamer... All I know for certain is our Lot 5 Tailgate will be the best on campus every Saturday...lots of good bourbon will be drank and lots of good cigars will be smoked. 1

Best wide receiving talent in the country, front 7 and safeties are elite, but our season will hinge on OL, QB and CB play. If our offensive plays close to its potential and our 5 star corners play like 5 star corners, we're a top 10 team. If the OL continues to be as porous as last year, we're screwed. 1

If SC gets its shit together it'll be an epic match up! I will correct you however...Bama has the biggest powder puff schedule ever! 4 games against basically division 2 schools, and LSU coming after a bye. They have 3 tough games and the rest of their schedule is a freaking joke. SEC scheduling is a laughing stock. 2

They're having a great season so far. Georgia v ND was a hell of a game- best game of any I've seen this season. It was without a doubt a championship-caliber game, and I'm not a fan of either team but couldn't pass on this one. Georgia got off to a slow start but came to dominate the second half. Surprised at the ND turnout- Irish accounted for maybe 5% of the fans. Couple of false injuries on ND's part was pretty low brow as well. This win bolsters Georgia's confidence I think and even though I'm a Bama fan I'd put Georgia as the #2 ranked team at this point in the season. Big carrot in their resume.
Hollywood Ninja Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 As long as The Ohio State Univeristy beats Michigan I'm a happy camper! With the showing the Wolverines made today against Wisconsin that should be a problem. And my heart will break once again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
