Popular Post Chucko8 Posted August 12, 2019 Popular Post Posted August 12, 2019 I was super excited about Saturday night with the Bledisloe Cup rugby match between Australia and New Zealand and the chance to smoke a great stick whilst watching it. @Nate Chu was joining me for the smoke up and the opportunity to watch a sport he has no idea about but a chance none the less to have a beer or 2 and enjoy a quality smoke. Had picked out these Tubos from the tupperdor earlier in the week, so it coincided nicely with the review weekend. Having previously enjoyed 1 of these tubos in the past I was ready for a great evening. Woohoo let the festivities begin! Stick feels good no soft spots, smell is cedar and hay. Straight cut off the end and draw is a little firm and cold draw gives off a cedar flavour as well. Light it up and away we go. I'm getting cedar and it's smooth. Has that light musty vintage feel. Rest of the first third it's just smooth cedar, I'm not getting anything else. Nate is reporting the same. Second third starts just like the first and waiting for the development of some other flavours to come to the party. The draw although feeling firm at the beginning is actually very good, the burn is great, smoke content feels rewarding ash has a pleasing light grey and good hold. Wait on, did I just detect an element of some form of sweetness? Nope it's just that I had another mouthful of beer. Good news is that the Wallabies are holding steady in this match. The Stone & Wood Pacific Ales are going down a treat also. It just feels like this cigar is going no where though. There has been no development none, nada, zip. Nate has the same opinion as me, it's a shared consensus. Whilst the cigar isn't unpleasant at all, unfortunately I was just expecting a hell of a lot more that what is on offer. Last time I had one of these there were chocolate sweetness and cream with the wood. The Wallabies are doing well here and an upset is well and truly now looking likely to come the way of the Aussies. Time to make change to another stick. Dived into the wineador and fished out the cab of PL Coronas. This turned out to be a brilliant decision!! Not only did we get a fantastic stick with some lovely transitions and flavour, the Wallabies held strong and came home with a record win over the All Blacks. Monte tubos - 85 PL Corona - 91 6
