Montecristo Especial Unknown 2001 (MCRW)

It's a gift from my buddy - the vintage cigar hunter. I do not share this excitement and prefer to live with novelties and aged, rather than collect old things. However, on occasion I certainly try vintage for the development of horizons. The wrapper is smooth, delicate, thin, with thin veins.

The cigar kept its shape well, lost some weight, but did not turn into a wrinkled mummy,  unless the pig's tail fell apart. Cigar freezing to death and became rigid like a stick.

Draw is not perfect, but suitable for me. Aroma at cold faint pleasant Cuban smell, closer to cedar.

1/3: the beginning met me with the taste of cardboard. I remember a similar taste at the beginning of some vintage cigars, which initially did not have high strength. But after 1 centimeter from the beginning added and cigar flavors: oak and hazelnut shade. Another centimeter and the cigar is gaining good power, the rounded taste of good strength and body. I didn't expect that from an old man. The taste is dryish, but it is traditional for a respectable age, there is no discomfort, the receptors excited by pleasant tastes stimulate good saliva. There's plenty of smoke. With deep puffs appears acidity, so continue gently. Burning perfect. Cigar on the cut smells of baking. The taste is a rounded mix and it is difficult for me to distinguish components, I will call it "wood-nut". 

2/3: I do not feel a significant evolution, but I was reminded again of the cardboard flavors and acidity. Perhaps port would be nice to wash away this unpleasant aftertaste, but I was too lazy to go for it. The taste of minerals became new. Obviously, the cigar has long passed the years of his peak form when the rude, ammiachnomu and the tannins disappeared, allowing solo only tastes that we all love. Ash also does not cause trouble, every 3 inch I gently break off. The taste degrades to my regret.

3/3: the taste has become primitive, simple rancid tobacco. Strange, usually the last third of it keeps the taste better than the beginning of the cigar. High acidity. I didn't smoke until the end.

Conclusion: I got frustrated - 3/5 stars given preferences to the old man. But I'm sure it's a bad instance or bad storage. There are excellent copies of older Especiales in excellent condition.
