CampDelta369 Posted August 10, 2019 Posted August 10, 2019 Montecristo No. 2 ULA OCT 14 (MCRW) Cold wrapper Aroma: Earth and slight barnyard. Pairing: mineral water Construction: Excellent with a fine silky wrapper. Draw is excellent. Smoke volume to start is good. Single 1/8” cut on cap. My summertime Humidor is 75F @67%RH 1/3: Espresso and Cream notes with light spice white pepper. Burn is slightly wavy on start. Some nuts on the edges. Ash is very firm white with grey streaks. Some saltiness appears for a moment. That’s a first on this marca for me. Initial spice fades away. Some cocoa and earthiness takes over initial espresso flavors. Still a nice creaminess on The pallet. So far excellent mild medium start. 2/3: Bakers chocolate similar to what an unsweetened brownie would be. Unsweetened chocolate shavings on thick wheat toast. I am chewing the spiceless smoke on the retro hale. I wish they were all like this. At halftime this is going quite well. Very minor corrections on Burn I could easily ignore but I enjoy the practice. Strength right at Medium + now with some roasted tobacco on the finish. 3/3: Some hay twanging the pallet now and strength is slowly increasing. Flavors intensify and I slow it down a bit. Cut another 1/8” off cap. Draw opens up more and smoke is more concentrated allowing easier and cooler smoking. Nuts are dominating now. Things remain cool. Similar flavors with nuts, cocoa, and toasted tobacco into the band. Things get a bit hot there and I terminate. Well done Torcedoras! Overall this one gets a 91+ which is consistent if not best example from this box. It would pair great with a coffee drink or morning espresso. Smoking time 80 min. Cheers 4
