Popular Post Akela3rd
A peaceful morning in the garden was just what I needed after a thoroughly enjoyable day yesterday meeting a cornucopia of new people. A bit of peace and quiet and a good cigar...I picked the Punch Punch as I knew it would be good as its from a PSP box I bought last year, and the other couple I've had so far have been excellent. This one looked and felt good, the draw was spot on. Light cedar and a touch of sweetness on the lips.On lighting the cedar profile came out of the blocks first, full on and with that sweetness hard on it's heels. Really nice combination, almost like a lolly stick when you've finished the lolly. In this case it must have been a raspberry or blueberry flavoured one as there was a dark fruity element coming through. This lingered pleasingly throughout the first third. I find Punch Punch quite full flavoured generally though not full in strength and this was fitting the profile to a T.During the mid section a mineral bitterness emerged, not unpleasant at all, slotting in well and underpinning the dark fruit nicely. The burn stayed consistent with no annoying touch-ups required. As the hour mark passed I noticed a slight split developing making the removal of the band a tense moment. Not too bad as I smoked on. The cigar ended with a little twang of saltiness and a peppery retrohale. The way this cigar developed and changed had been really intriguing going from sweet to salt but all of it good. These should do well over the next couple of years, though by no means too young to enjoy now. Paired with a bottle of Peroni Libera 0.0% - very good and one to add to the list in my quest for a drinkable non-alcoholic beer.8.5/10 for both.
