Popular Post slowsmoke Posted June 2, 2019 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2019 My first Edmundo and I was really looking forward to it. From a PSP/HQ quarter box that has rested a good 6 months. They appear to be "chocolate soldiers" as Pres calls them. Wrapper was wet hay, and a bit of barnyard. Cold draw was sweet hay, very Cohiba-ish. But, the draw was light. Very light. I tried to stay optimistic even though in the back of my head I knew where this was going. First puffs are great cocoa, and a strong nutty, maybe hazelnut. But it immediately starts tunneling and dying. I gave it a few life support touch ups, which brought some really good cocoa flavors, but the damn thing was just suicidal. It tasted so good that twice I clipped it and tried giving it a fresh start. Each time the tunneling was painfully obvious. After who knows how many relights it tasted like arse and I pitched it. Pretty disappointing, especially because even as I dug around deciding what to light next, I had a really nice cocoa finish. For what it's worth, I gave one to a friend who lit it at the same time, his also tunneled, but he was able to salvage it after one clip and relight. He said he enjoyed it after that. I immediately lit a trusty Secretos. 5 3
lovethehaze Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Too bad the tunnel is the worst. Better luck next time.
Islandboy Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 More time down will hopefully help. Edmundo is a favorite of mine, currently smoking through a GOA Feb 16 box that’s fantastic. Tastes like molten chocolate soufflé.
BuzzArd Posted June 2, 2019 Posted June 2, 2019 Edmundos are a bit bigger RG than I really like.... 50RG is tops. That said I do have a box of these in the humi and they've been there three years. Wonder if I should give one a try..... ? Too bad this one fought you. I’d say being so young may have been some issue due to humidity. What are your humi conditions? Maybe a week or more in a dry box for the next time?

Not my preferred condition, but plenty of other sticks come out of this wineador and burn fine. Outside conditions were about 68deg/70RH. I have another wineador sitting at about 70deg/62RH and those sticks do smoke more to my liking. But I live in an area where the ambient RH is often well over 65%, so dryboxing, or bringing RH down in a wineador, can be difficult. Hopefully more rest, and slowly bring down the RH another few percent, will help these out.
