LCDH exclusive cigars

How is it that cigar sellers out side of LCDH can sell cigars with LCDH bands? Im not complaining by no means and have bought them from FOH but doesn't that take away from the exclusive part?

So its kinda like a sales gimmick? I just think it takes away from making an exclusive cigars if its just gonna be sold like regular production.

Takes away from what though? We get the cigars, HSA gets the sale, everyone's happy. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think that as far as RE's go, Italy is one country (possibly the only country??) that won't allow their regionals to leave the country. I don't know what the mechanics of that are but it's a curious anomaly.

Some/many countries don't have an LCDH.

Italy forbids shipping tobacco products outside the country.

Some shops/individuals will do that regardless, with the same respect to the law as Americans on FOH.....

That's for ERs which are a totally different animal. ERs are all shipped directly to the respective distributors. They must leave from there. As a result Italy and some of the smaller or out of the way countries with high duties of less of a worldwide retail presence can be tough to get ERs on the worldwide market. I would put Mexico, Canada and South America in that category as well. 

LCDH/HS releases are shipped to all distributors worldwide making them essentially a marketing gimmick. At least it keeps the LCDH name in people's heads. 

I'm not sure how the program was originally rolled out in 04-06 but those models were definitely more limited in release. There were stated production numbers for most models and availability was much more limited. Obviously, this has changed.

I always thought of the Regionals and the LCDH's as cigars "made to their order" and that was the uniqueness, not that you could only buy them there.  From that point of view I never felt that the branding exercise was devalued by me being able to source Pacific Regionals or LCDH offerings from outside their respective areas.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the LCDH exclusive part - they seem to pop up everywhere. I just treat them like any other regular production cigar just with an extra shiny second band!
