SCDLH La Punta EML NOV 2014 SSTWR

So excited for this review weekend.  These three Marcas are among my favorites.  I have been excited for this box.  My Fuerzas didn’t seem to age that well but somehow the Punta does.

Construction is gorgeous.  Most of my Punta have a darker veinier wrapper but somehow these are light and clear.  Aroma at cold is sweet and fruity.

First half:

Lights and burns perfectly.  Paired with a split gin martini, I love this cigar.  It’s elegant and sweet.  Smoke production is fantastic and it just feels “right.”

Second half:

Perfect burn and composition.  It’s so seamless.  I didn’t get a big transition in flavor until the final third where some of the sweetness gave way to a stronger forest floor thing.  Also very pleasant.  Got way stronger too but never harsh.  I believe these are smoking perfectly now but another year of age would do no damage.  

 

I’d give it a 95.  It was an imprsssive experience and a welcome one as I feel like I’ve kissed a few frogs of late.  This and a 2014 Mag 50 really rekindled my love for this hobby.

What are the similarities to the El Principe, if any? Curious as I've never had the La Punta or La Fuerza (although I now have a few sticks).

The DNA of the Principe and the Punta are similar.  I think the Principe to be one of the best little treasures that Havana makes.  It is stronger than both the Punta and Fuerza and I believe it ages like a CHAMP!  I have some AME 13 that are gorgeous.
