Popular Post THEMISCHMAN Posted May 3, 2019 Popular Post Posted May 3, 2019 SCDLH El PrincipeUnknown Box Code73°F79% humidity Paired with waterFinal smoke time ~ 50 minutes I haven’t smoked a lot of San Cristobal and this is my first Principe. The other day I had a La Punta and it was a terrific cigar. The sweetness was very apparent and I really enjoyed that about the cigar. So much so that I didn’t hesitate to grab a box when they were up the other day. This cigar was gifted to me by @crking3 and I’ve had it for about three months now. When I saw the cigars up for review this weekend I figured I’d pull it out and give it a go. The cigar has a wonderful sheen to the wrapper that is hard to appreciate in the photos. I v-cut it and it has a nice sweet tobacco flavor on the draw. It lights easily and the burn is straight and the draw seems to be right where I like it. 1st half: Right off the bat, I’m getting that molasses/syrupy sweetness that everyone describes. Usually, sweetness is a quality that that I have trouble discerning in other cigars but it seems with these San Cristobal it is very noticeable to me. I like it. There’s some coffee coming through and a slight cedar on the retro. I’m trying to take shorter puffs to keep it from getting hot and it continues to burn slow and relatively straight. 2nd half: For whatever reason I’m not a big smoker of Minutos but this may have me rethinking that. The coffee flavor picks up in the back half and the sweetness fades to the background. It’s like black coffee with a small scoop of sugar being enjoyed from a cedar mug. The finish is clean on the palate and there’s a nutty nuance that is really making this a great little cigar. I’m having to watch myself and slow down because I want to keep drawing on the cigar. Overall: This cigar is a winner. I can see why so many people like them. I’m glad I had the opportunity to smoke it and again a big thanks to@crking3 for gifting it to me. If you’ve never had one I can easily recommend grabbing some and for those of you that have....well...you already know. Cheers, and enjoy your weekend FOH! 15 1
TTP21 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Great review. Only had one before and it closely mirrors your review. One of the true gems of CC's in my, albeit limited, experience. 1
Nedule Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 El Principe has become one of my favorites. I recently bought a box when I was in Cuba this spring. They're obviously not on many people's list because the only boxes they had were 2017's. 2

Jbhunter223 Posted May 3, 2019 Posted May 3, 2019 Minutos are awesome, this is one I have yet to try but need to. Monte 5, RG Perlas, RASCC are pretty damn good. 1
MigsG Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Liking that super dark wrapper! Never seen that dark on an El Principe. Looked delish. 2

Chucko8 Posted May 5, 2019 Posted May 5, 2019 Great review. I myself have only tried this cigar once from gifted stick. Had a similar experience as your recount. My pairing was with a black coffee, which really felt to bring those sweet notes up a level.
