slowsmoke Posted March 25, 2019 Posted March 25, 2019 What a let down. Got a 1/4 box of these a few months ago, because the first Epi 2 I had was awesome, and I love this vitola, so I had high hopes. First one out of the bag a couple weeks ago had a terrible burn, but I at least managed to finish it, and got plenty of Hoyo cream even if it wasn't terribly good. Today I got home just in time to head out back for a sunny afternoon, grabbed the bag of Epi 1, my favorite brew, and set up the laptop ten minutes before 24:24 was set to hit. Things were looking up! First one I clipped was tighter than hell. Not to worry, grab another one from the bag. Still tight, but better, so I decide to press on. Unfortunately it had a flameproof wrapper or binder (or probably both). I got a puff or two of cream, before it tunneled faster than El Chapo breaking out of prison. These are coming off 90 days rest in a humi that has produced plenty of other great smokes, so I'm blaming Cuba. I clipped off a couple inches and tried again, but it just tasted awful. How do you roll a cigar so tight, and yet tunnels so fast? Put the bag back and grabbed a CoRo. I don't know why, I haven't had the greatest luck with CoRo either, probably the shiny gold band got me. Fortunately this one delivered. I have a 1/4 box of Epi Especial that are also turning out to be very poorly constructed. Such a disappointment when I have had a taste of how good Hoyo can be. The obligatory pic, shortly before pitching it. 1 1
