Popular Post joeypots Posted March 4, 2019 Popular Post Posted March 4, 2019 There was, once upon a time, a time when one could but a 10 count box of the Cohiba Siglo VI for about $20 a cigar. That was in 2013 and that price was already considered outrageous. I think I had a box of 25 in'06 that were something just over $400, now the VI is pushing $800. Good retailers also used to put them on sale once in a while, one had a promotion I remember, 10 Siglo VI tubos for $200. Any way, before I got to the place where I couldn't cope with the price I bought two 10 count boxes of VIs and I have been working through the first slowly in the last few years. I love Cohibas. I'm off of the LE and RE band wagon and try to buy the best regular production I can find. I don't often smoke more than 2 cigars a week and in 20 years of smoking Cuban cigars I have accumulated a stash of cigars I like. Cohiba is the special cigar for me and I generally save them for smoking times when I can give the cigar the attention it deserves. Yesterdays Siglo VI was worth the time. The band was loose out of the box and apron lighting the cigar produced lots of creamy, tangy, and somewhat grassy smoke. I could blow smoke out my nose for almost the whole cigar. So while it had lost all of it's rough edges it had plenty of power. If I rate a cigar I'm less about all of the different flavors some taste and more about construction, smoke volume, and how much I enjoy the cigar. This cigar was very good. I smoked it slowly and the only construction issue was that it became a little spongy at the last third. Burn and smoke volume were very good. There was enough tangy power there to get me a solid nicotine buzz as I retrohaled the smoke at the end. The only issue was my preference for thinner cigars, 52RG is a bit too fat for me, but if the cigar is good I can easily get past that. All in all, a solid 94 and great cigar for a laze Sunday afternoon. 10
