Good review!  It's great to follow the transition of Bolivar from young to aged.  I have a TEO NOV 17 box that has yet to be opened.  Your review has inspired me to light one up this week. ?

Winter has finally hit Texas. Easily the worst time of year weather wise. Constant rain and the temp drops from mid-80s/low 90s to the 30s. Fortunately my patio is fairly enclosed so I’m not subject to the bitter winds.

I’ve paired one of my favorite cigars with Glenfiddich 15. A wonderful pairing that really brings out the slight floral and fruit notes present throughout the cigar.

Pre light has cocoa, hay, and a slight earthiness to it.

First third is compromised primarily of leather, earthiness, cream, and toasted nuts.

In the second third the cream comes through more prevalently. The earth and leather is still present, but the cocoa begins to show its face. Truly delectable.

This is when the pairing with the 15 year Speyside starts to show just how perfect the pairing is. The Fiddich has notes of chocolate, heather, and dried fruits. I’d also recommend the Balvenie 12 doublewood, Balvenie 15 year Caribbean cask, or Glenlivet 15 solera cask. Islay scotches would likely overpower this particular cigar unless it’s Caol Ila.

In the final third the cream, leather, and cocoa blend beautifully. The floral and fruit notes remain and strengthen a touch. But leather and cream notes still dominate.

The hour and a half smoke time is a bit too long for the weather. Thankfully I have some Monte Media Coronas in the line up for this time of year.

I did not pick up on any. But I’m my experience, liquor can help mask any ammonia notes, so that’s not to say they aren’t there.

Nice review, I’m a big fan of pairing the Balvenie 12 Doublewood with cigars.
