Kaptain Karl Posted November 12, 2018 Posted November 12, 2018 Received this gorgeous box of HQ monte no 5’s from our host a week or two ago. I decided to pair it with some Tejava Black Tea. I’m sitting here overlooking a smoke filled valley from the Camp Fire. We live in Santa Rosa and have been dealing with the aftermath of the Tubbs Fire for the past 13 months so we know all too well what the poor residents of Paradise are dealing with. 1/3 the cigar opens up with heavy spice. A few puffs in, the spice subsides and is replaced by black coffee and cuban twang. Further in nuts and cream makes a solid appearance. Quite a complex opening! 2/3 The second third begins with heavy nuts, cream and cuban twang. It’s settled into this profile which is hitting on all cylinders! Some more sweetness creeps in, with some bitter black coffee on the finish. 3/3 the last third didn’t change much from the second, which was perfect for me! All in all, this monte 5 hit exactly where I wanted it to! 90/100 for me! 4
Chucko8 Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Nice review thanks! Ive tried some tea pairings with cigars and have found it to be enjoyable also. 1
