OllyBond Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 So, I did a side by side tonight to see how a CC compares to NC. I chose a BPC to go against a Alec Bradley Black Market Estelli Gordo, which was a gift that I would have never bought myself. Here are my notes, then I will share my thoughts. BPC: -strong musky cuban twang, cream, sponge cake, slight pepper on retrohale, thick smoke with a paper texture(best way I could explain texture), smooth finish. Burn and draw were near perfect AB BM Estelli: -hay, grass, musky whiskey, hints of cream, hints of cocoa, slight pepper, smooth with a slightly bitter finish. Burn and draw were near perfect. Final Thoughts: First off, the BPC was one of the best CC's I have ever smoked. That musky sweet cuban twang was absolutely incredible. Oddly, it really didn't taste like a bolivar, that pungent earthiness I normally get was not there. Now the AB was also really enjoyable, but if I'm being honest, it stood no chance against the BPC. So for at least tonight, Cuba wins. Anyway, as far as the side by side review goes, I must say that I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be doing some more of these in the future. Maybe next time with two BPC from the two different boxes I have. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
PigFish Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Interesting! I cannot see myself doing it, fouling a perfectly good Cuban cigar with an 'off brand,' but then again, someone had to eat the first artichoke... Thanks for sharing your experience. My only question would be this. Would your Cuban cigar experience have been better without the other cigar? Of course this can work both ways and I could have asked if you NC cigar could have been better without the influence of the Cuban cigar? Cheers! -Piggy 1
OllyBond Posted August 5, 2018 Author Posted August 5, 2018 I took a sip of coffee or water before switching from one cigar to another. That seemed to be enough to stop the NC flavor from infringing on CC. I really just wanted to taste the difference up close and personal. It was fun. CC vs CC next time.
