So what's the deal here? Is it some sort of unique chemical reaction that only happens with the old SLR bands? Perhaps I'm mistaken but I don't believe I've ever seen the bands of any other marca react to age in the same way as SLR...

Got any pics?

Can't say I've noticed how bands age differently.  Does anyone know why some bands (esp when you buy singles) have some green on them, almost like the way copper oxidizes?

Because they are oxidising. Happens all the time on my PLPCs.

I guess my curiosity is what on the wrapper oxidizes?  I assumed they were all just printed paper, is there some kind of copper, metal, or other ink that oxidizes?  I do see it a lot on Por Larranaga's and also Ramons but never on a montecristo, maybe something using in the band?

Brass powder ink used on those bands (not the wrapper for that matter  ;)).

Bingo. I figured it had to be a copper alloy as it will sometimes get that green tarnish.

Seen regularly on my PL and RA.
