Popular Post nsills Posted June 2, 2018 Popular Post Posted June 2, 2018 Decided to pull out one of these coronas just over @Elpresidente's two year mark. Paired with Ballast Point Sculpin IPA, peppered salame and aged extra sharp cheddar. 1st third right off the bat offers up citrus and spiced honey. Whiskey is usually my drink but I'm excited to put this up against the IPA! 2nd third I've had to relight (can't fault it being a PSP with extra oily wrappers). Draw is perfect with excellent construction. Maybe it's the hops influencing but wowza tons of floral notes are now coming through. I'm smoking a bouquet of honeyed spring flowers. Final third Graham cracker marzipan and continuing floral and spice notes flowing through. Pepper from the as salame intensifying the spice in the smoke. Overall I would put it 92-93 and can see easily improving by some points with age. Delicious! 9
NorCalAaron Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 Great review Nate, I'm glad I still have a few left. 1
Hookmaker Posted June 3, 2018 Posted June 3, 2018 I bought a handful in Switzerland two weeks ago - all gone in a few days - couldn’t resist.
joshhooper7 Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Oh how I can't wait to get off this ship, return home to San Diego and enjoy cigars and Ballast Point in conjunction. Just before I left I paired a Monte 2 with a High West Barrel Aged Victory at Sea and boy was that amazing. If you're into porters and barrel aged beers head down to Miramar road and try Alesmith!
fitzy Posted June 4, 2018 Posted June 4, 2018 Great review. I've got a box in recently Oct 2016. Looking forward to this October.
