New member here, located just outside of Chicago.  I have minimal cigar experience, but my Fiancee went to Cuba earlier this month and brought me some cigars back.  Turns out the box of Esplendidos is fake, but she did bring a bundle of cigars from a farm she toured.  Researching that Cohiba box led me down the rabbit hole of Cuban cigar information, and I originally landed on Reddit.  I just beat the ban of the trade forum and ordered cigars from two guys there.  I have a tupperdore going now, and I'm hoping that after about 2 weeks of acclimating I can try my first cigar from my new collection.  I'm excited to see what I enjoy most and then I intend to order a few boxes.

Glad to have this great source of information and I look forward to learning as much as possible.

Cheers! - Matt

Your journey sounds familiar! Welcome to the fold!

Thanks - did you start in a similar way?  I've been setting my tupperdor up and acclimating a few cigars over the last 2 weeks and haven't yet smoked a real Cuban.  Maybe in about 2 weeks!

Hey MrStixx-

I can't wait until a few deliveries arrive and I can fully embark on this fun journey!  Any advice for a new guy?  Cheers!

Similar in that my father came back from the DR with some fake Cohibas after I had mentioned I had an interest in exploring Cuban cigars. Nothing like getting burned to make sure it doesn't happen again!

The slope is slippery man!!! Welcome from NJ

Oh I've learned this! I've been ordering 6 packs where available, but I've placed 6 orders over this past month and check the 24/24 almost daily.  I have a wood shop in my basement and enjoy making things, so one day I'll likely try my hand at a humidor.  For now the plastic tote with Bovedas seems to be working very well.
