Popular Post havanaclub
First off I would like to thank Lisacanadianbeaver for this cigar that I acquired through a trade. This cigar brings back many memories. The Cohiba Magicos Maduro 5 was the first box of cigars I purchased on my first trip to Cuba. My wife and I have been to Cuba 5 times and in 2 weeks we are going again for a nice family March break trip. I might just have to pick up another box if I can find them as this was the last one I own. I added my last Magicos 09 from that first box purchase to the box pass. I was holding onto that cigar for so long. I didn’t want to smoke it because of the sentimental value. But I thought what better to let another BOTL try it in the pass put on by Chrischanceschmerr Anyway, back to the cigar review. This cigar was constructed perfectly. The burn was 10/10 with absolutely no touch ups required. Nice firm pack and the draw was perfect, which created a huge volume of smoke. 1st: initial puffs gave a little black pepper on the tongue. It was pleasant. Very rich cocoa flavours with each draw. The classic Cohiba grass/hay was very faint in the background. Very long finish, what a great start. 2nd: cocoa, nutty with an increase in body to medium full. The black pepper note was still around but not as intense. 3rd: this cigar finished off very well for being a short and stout cigar. I find they can become hot in the final third. I took my time as I usual do. The chocolate note was in the forefront and picked up in intensity with a roasted almond/nutty note in the background. The classic Cohiba flavours were gone by this point. Excellent cigar. Rated : 95 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
jfire
I had several OR boxes of the Magicos. Like smoking chocolate ovaltine! The later releases just didn’t have the magic. Thanks for the review!Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
CigKopf
Great review. I’ve always been curious about the Maduro 5, but I haven't tried them. I guess it's time to grab a box!
