Stump89 Posted January 19, 2018 Posted January 19, 2018 Cracked open the box of these last night. I've been holding on to them because I am still wondering why I bought something with a 54 ring gauge. Only hear good things so here's my 2 cents on them. Aroma cold is molasses and that fresh 'barnyardy' note. Draw is perfect on this one. Starting out, very rich flavor. Nice sweetness, toasted nutty flavor, and a hint of black tea. Getting into the 2nd 3rd, there is a leather note that appears for a little. The sweetness amps up as well. Getting past the halfway point, the youth shows a little bit as there is a slight bitter flavor on the finish, however the 54 still provides plenty of pleasant flavor. Construction on this beast was great, and the ash probably could have held on for the duration of the smoke. The verdict: I want to hate this cigar because of the size, but the flavor is there in spades. The 54 impressed me from the time I first lit it up until I put it down. I'd like to see what another year does for these. Short, fat, but pretty damn good. 4
stunod Posted January 20, 2018 Posted January 20, 2018 Had 2 from my box so far. I agree they are good but definitely need more time to rest. 1
TheMonk Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 Nice job! I really have to give these a try soon... I love most Upmanns, specially the Mag50 and Connie A.
KavalanWhisky Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Smoked my first one last night and was a little disappointed, it was the usual Upmann flavours but not too much else flavourwise. They were a young box and rested for about 6 weeks in the humidor. Construction was great and long ash. Will have to try again in 12 months
