Astonishingly good rums for the price are the Kirk and Sweeney 12 and 23 yr rums. Also, just got back from Aruba, where I️ had the pleasure of downing a bottle of the Ron Botran 15yr rum. 30$ (all US prices) for K&S 12 yr. 45$ for K&S 23 yr. and the Ron Botran was 30$ in the duty free, so definitely a bit more in the Wild

I just did a picture search and found this on a German site:

http://www.rum-kontor.de/epages/63120259.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/63120259/Products/05040201

Price there is 500 Euro. Unfortunately I have no idea about the releases, and the website doesn't give much information either...

But I would think, this is the original packaging from the 60s:

the first pics are almost certainly the new releases and this more likely the original. we have a full thread on this rum -

came about pretty much as explained - my understanding is that they are now doing commercial releases, though very limited and obviously expensive. but that has only started in the last couple of years. for decades, it was the cohiba of rum - just a gift for diplomats and heads of state et al.

i can say that is not just the greatest rum i've ever tried but the greatest spirit.

i should add that i have not tried the recent commercial release but hard to imagine it is not very special.

If nothing else, I am a bad influence. :2thumbs:

Oh, if you don't like the Zafra, I will take it off your hands.

If you do like the Zafra, then whatever you do, do not try the Zafra 30 year....because it is like the nectar of the Gods and priced accordingly.

Oh, one more thing, it is all @SignalJoe's fault no matter what, since he organized the herf.
