No they are "Bakelite"
Not pricey - has a nice striker action
Company went under due to being banned in the USA (some silliness about an explosion)

I use to be into the ST Dupont lighters.  A friend I grew up with use to be the creative design head of ST Dupont.  He designed the 007 lighters and probably everything that company made during that era.  The lighters get old and leak, so whatever deal I find for them it ended up being an additional $100 to service it.  I never use my Dupont; been thinking of selling it.

I've owned and used the a couple ST - nice lighters and inexpensive for a Dupont. But will eventually wear out and not worth repair IMHO. Like ST size/shape ... Sleek

I never owned the jet style lighter from them, just the traditional Gatsby style ones.  Call my uncouth, but I am Bic lighter user now...  No more pretense in lighting cigars.

That's it in third picture - but filling these old lighters especially those with "cartridge tanks" would be unadvisable (and scary,). Be like loading a Magmum round in an old hammer type shotgun..... Squeeze the trigger and could be blowing your lips off IMHO

Interesting that sticker says "multirecharge". Might have an issue finding a can that fits at nozzle. I tried a typical modern fill can on a few old lighters and it didn't fit most. Maybe a can with adapter tips? Still could be hazardous....

This is a Zamia Companion - Japan est'65 - Flint/Butane ... This one can be recharged and even comes with an adapter to use with something other than their recommended canned gas. This lighter is kind of dangerous just from reading the instructions ?IMG_3887.thumb.JPG.1dcc587607009ba6277cd66e241819cc.JPG IMG_3886.thumb.JPG.1a7ac39c2effac4485121b339de297cf.JPG

Isn't that the same thing some non-briar ttobacco pipes are made from as well, like The Pipe or Yellow Bole?

These are all rad. I like tobacciana too, but I don't really have any myself.

I would not think so - Bakelite IS more heat resistant than normal plastic but not fireproof.... I know of meerschaum or maybe ceramics for pipes??

By comparison... another Zaima (Nesor) this has an electronic ignition - I would feel better filling/using this one ?

That's a really nice looking lighter.

What I originally started collecting was old Colibri lighters than got sidetracked....

Try Newport. One of the adapters worked with my old man's 1970's Braun soft flame lighter.

My Grandfather came home from WW2 with something very similar to that design. Same roller on the side, but the inlay was silver. I snuck it out of the house once when I was 7-8 years old and lost it. Thanks for showing us your collection!

Maybe part of "restructuring" post war but I noticed many commercial products came from Japan in '60s-70s .... Now hard to find anything not produced in China.
Colibi was originally marked from England/Swiss! Those are the ones I prefer collecting.
