Now hard to find anything not produced in China. Colibi was originally marked from England/Swiss! Those are the ones I prefer collecting. Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk How much do those Colibri lighters go for? My wife and I go to estate sales and I’ve seen quite a few old tobacco stuff. Now that I’m back into cigars I’ll probably never see anything again though. 1

"Vintage" only refers to age not quality but shopping for them can be rewarding because many folks don't know what they possess. Also like a crap shoot sometime because a piece may look good but not function as you desire. Estate and garage sales might turn up a real jewel for a fair price plus you can examine it in person. Places like eBay,etsey, etc. .... Well you just go by someone else's opinion. Probably not telling you anything not already known.I assume you're searching for a cool looking (And Working) lighter? There are a few on-line sites that might help answer your question better - sorry. By the way - the Colibri above is only a "Retro design" - not actually very old. You might want to consider shopping retro instead of vintage for a good operating lighterSent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk 2
SmokeySteve Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Beautiful lighters! What is the purpose of the metal strip at the bottom of the box? Functional or decorative? 1

Jfeath74 Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 This was my grandfathers lighter that was gifted to me by him in the 90’s. He has since passed and to me it is priceless. The markings on the bottom date it at 1985. 3

BrightonCorgi Posted November 29, 2017 Posted November 29, 2017 What's crazy is I have a Dupont light I must've paid around $200 new back in the late 90's is almost $800 online new! I was searching online to see what model I have instead of going downstairs and actually looking at the lighter (which inevitably did either way). I know luxury item replacement value goes up over time. I just got my girlfriend a Montblanc pen for her birthday and it was more than double what I paid for one like 15 years ago! Not as much an increase as the Dupont. 2
Fatshotbud Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 Lost a gifted MB pen - it ran about $100US around that timeline (15yrs). WAS very nice! Had a lifetime warranty back then too I believe? But didn't cover ignorance...DuPont lighters were still a French manufactured product back then I believe? Would make it very collectable I would think. Some I have seen can run into the $$ thousands!Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk 1
Fatshotbud Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 Here's some Opera Pipes and a couple other Cheroot holders - all are meerchaum. I think the idea with opera pipes was to have small loads so as not to distract from too much smoke... 2

Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk It's a modest collection, but I love these Eloi Pernet cigar cutters. They are for quite smaller vitolas, which in our day and age, make some of them obsolete (well, for us in the States). Nevertheless, I love the craftsmanship and so did a few other brands. Eloi did cigar cutters for Dunhill and Davidoff. There is usually a circular emblem on the Dunhill/Davidoff cutters that state "Eloi France". 3

When I first got into cigars, that was the hot cutter. Great collection! 1

Sent from my KYOCERA-E6560 using Tapatalk You know, I can't say yes with 100% certainty. Most of the history/language I find on the company is all the same, but now they currently only manufacture surgical equipment.
