Kitchen Posted November 26, 2017 Posted November 26, 2017 Greetings! This is my first post here, but I have been reading the forum for a little while now. Just a little bit about me, I’m a cigar enthusiast in the USA that recently was in Cuba and did not bring back enough cigars. So I am planning my next purchase, which will unfortunately not be in Cuba. I am vacationing in Paris next year and I plan on picking up some Habanos to refresh my humidor. I am debating whether or not to buy them from in town or duty free at the airport when leaving. I will be departing from Charles de Gaulle and have read that a new store opened this year in terminal 2E. However I can’t find any recent real reviews; just articles on the proposed store. Anyone been there recently and can report back on the selection and prices? I am primarily interested in Bolivar Belicosos and Ramon Allones Specially Selected. Would also be interested in Montecristos, Cohibas, Punches and regional/limited offerings too, but my first priorities are the Bolivars and RAs. Also, are the prices that much better then if I bought them in Paris? I realize they will not be as good as in Cuba, but just wondering if the duty free is worth it. Thanks, Joe
kwsaw63 Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I was last there a year ago and my memory is a bit rusty, so please take this with a pinch of salt. From what I remember, the selection at the airport wasn't that wide. Just the usual Cohiba, RyJ, Partagas, Montecristo fare, but what was interesting were the French REs. I ended up buying a box of the PL Opera French RE 2015 to bring home.
Smokin_Safari Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 Joe, your question is a common one re: Paris duty free - there are previous posts on this forum back to 2016 is you wish to search some responses. Essentially with so many people going through there, their stock is limited and usually very fresh. If you are staying in Paris, simply head to Tabac George V (you may think them expensive but have a full range) or Civette (a bit friendlier to be honest). Ensure you speak French! A bientoit !
BrightonCorgi Posted November 27, 2017 Posted November 27, 2017 I got the best looking box of Cohiba Lanceros I have ever seen from the Duty Free at CDG. They'll open boxes for you as well.
Kitchen Posted November 28, 2017 Author Posted November 28, 2017 Thanks Guys, as I thought, probably better to pick up my rarer in Paris. I will probably wait to buy Monte No. 2s at the airport.
GavLew79 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Le Lotus in the Opera district was great. V friendly. Owner opened a stash of RE boxes for me to find 4 with the wrappers I liked.
