So I know prices are different and from low to high.  Please recommend a kit or a blade that I can buy high quality that I will never have to replace a good one.   Not the  Winnie but maybe a Cohiba robusto razor

Been curious about the straight razor, but afraid of the rabbit hole. Went to safety razor 2 years ago and never looked back. I always have a beard, so the shaving is merely keeping edges neat and tidy. My skin used to get really irritated, but with the safety razor and some practice it's really a quick process and the shave is much better.

For those who have had trouble and went back to disposables, proper soap lather and a sharp blade makes all the difference!

Pretty much the same here. Went to a DE safety a few years ago and never looked back. Used to get very bad razor burn after every shave, boo matter what. That is a thing if the past. Don't get irritation anymore at all.

For my creams I switch between Cremo orange scent and ToOBS sandalwood or coconut.

Will probably try a straight razor at some point. Would love to find me an old one, not necessarily antique but one like our grandfather's used to use.

I thoroughly enjoy my safety razor, never had the balls to move to the straight, I'd end up with cuts all over the place.

I would slice my jugular within a week with the str8 blade.  I sometimes slash up my face with the safety razor cant even imagine the freak show with a str8 blade on a tired morning.

I tried for months to used a saftey razor and got pretty good at shaving but after 48 hours my neck feels very bruised and its pretty painful.

Tried some good creams and diffrent blades but no improvements.

If anyone has any advice, as i would love to go back to using it.

I started using a safety razor set up a couple years ago too. Love it. Wouldn't go back. I am a big fan of the ritual of it all. I also use it to shave my head as well, so I will never go all the way to straight edge. This works well, and in the end, is pretty damned cheap.
I also like the search of finding good creams/soaps that work for you. It is another fun little hobby. 0c7b47c10759939f96d5d6ad65a4334f.jpg

Agreed that it's a fun hobby. I shaved DE for years, then switched to Harry's cartridges and love 'em. The best part is jumping around between shave creams and aftershaves. A recent interesting addition is a shave cream from Lush  called Dirty. It's the only shave cream I've found that doesn't required an aftershave balm.
