bferrari222 Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 First post so forgive me if I am not doing this right. Just finished an Epicure Especial (sort of). Last third kind of exploded/expanded and fell apart. Seemed to hold together before that. Anyone else experience that? EDIT: Just curious. Mainly want to know if that is a known issue occasionally or if it might be a storage problem.... 1
kalibratecuba Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Ah, you bought the practical joke box.Or, the cigars were over-humidified and reacted to the drier air (posdibly the other way around - cigars that were drier than the air you were smoking them).Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
bferrari222 Posted October 3, 2017 Author Posted October 3, 2017 Lol. That makes sense. Definitely storing them drier than where I'm smoking. I keep them at 65% or less inside. South Florida humidity. Ugh. Thanks for the insight.
hanjr Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 awesome cigar though...one of my favs...explosion or not!
Danimalia Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 Yeah, I haven't had that issue, but I live in a very moderate climate. Only trouble I've had with EEs were a couple that were too tight on the draw last year. Wonderful smoke.
dominattorney Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 I too frequently have that issue with this cigar, either that or the damn thing won't stay lit. Before you jump down my throat saying it's my fault somehow, this has happened with me on more than one box, and this cigar is stored in the same humidor as all my other cigars. Even so, it is the only cigar that I regularly experience this issue with, even other cigars of comparatively similar ring gauges.
luvdunhill Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 For me, the EE seem to definitely burn slower...
Mattb82 Posted October 3, 2017 Posted October 3, 2017 This is one of the best regular production Cuban cigars for me. Just elegant
... Posted October 4, 2017 Posted October 4, 2017 Out of a 50 cab of this cigar I bought a few years back, more than one in five was absolutely plugged at or around the band point. Some of the most tasty cigars I have had also came out of that cab. Overall, I was pleased to see the bottom of the box and have been hesitant to buy another epicure especial since. 1

It wouldn't be the Epi E that has a problem, it would be the individuals that rolled them. Almost all of these marcas are rolled in different factories with the exception of a few and I can guarantee they don't say here comes the Epi e let's screw them up. We can find these problems across the spectrum. I just finished a box of 2015 Coro from another vendor that had 17 plugged cigars out of 25 stores at 65/65 for a year.
