got back home around 8.30pm last night and got a glass of water from the fridge. put it down and forgot about it. this morning, great lump of ice in it (i've accidently done exactly that a few times but usually in the morning and it is still full of ice in the evening). and for what it is worth, this morning is around 4 degrees warmer than the day before.

other day, went to grab a paper from the local store at 8am - 6 degrees. and the clock/thermometer thingee i have in the bedroom at 10 am in the morning (yes, that would be as opposed to 10am in the evening), was 8 degrees. yes, i know plenty of places get much colder but we are not made or prepared for such conditions.

i am typing this in fishing gloves as they have the tips cut off.

hey, the good news - wed/thur i am off to coonawarra, one of the coldest places in australia. the locals like to point out that there is absolutely nothing between there and the antarctic except ocean so if you get a southerly...

I have pointed this out to you before.....

.....you have a fireplace in the lounge room.

It is hidden behind the boxes.

it is not hidden.

but lord knows what lives in it.

yes, i understand but you know that room - size of a small school hall and the fireplace is not conveniently located near anything. for the few days of the year it might be used, not worth it for all the clearing/cleaning/chopping/crap. and it would not warm relevant parts of the house unless i have it roaring like a bushfire. given the locale, not really keen on that. so for a few weeks or a month or two, i suffer and wrap up as well as i can. if only i could save some of this cold for summer!

Organize a load of firewood. there is a sign for seasoned firewood down near the round about at the pony club. Give them a call.  I can check the chimney flue for you this Thursday.  It is easy to clean.

Once you have done it once or twice you will wonder how you lived without it.  It is a big fireplace. more than large enough to do the living and bedroom areas.

Much obliged if you'd send some this way....

111F? That's not too bad. Just like our summer temps.

high temps can be okay if it is a "dry heat". but if you have humidity - a killer. i'd rather 111 with low humidity than 90 with high humidity.

always believe that from around april/may to sept/oct, south east Qld has the best weather in the world. the rest of the year? some of the worst.
