NBA Draft - How is your team faring?

Celts picked Tatum at number 3. I don't think his NBA ceiling is high enough to warrant the third pick in a loaded draft. Seems likely to stunt Jaylen Brown's development too.

Of course, if Danny Ainge pulls off a trade for Porzingis, I retract all criticisms.

The wheeling and dealing of the last week has been crazy, and not done yet.  Its been an entertaining start to the off season!

I follow 3 teams.

SAS - did okay.  Need to get more players with heart and need to trade LMA for someone who will make a difference when the going is tough.

TOR - did okay but need to say goodbye to Kyle Lowry and go in a different direction if he is asking for a max deal

NETS - crawling out of the morass Billy King left them in.  Good defence centre pick

My team is the Minnesota Timberwolves and I'm feeling pretty good.

Good times up in MN. John Paxon should check for his wallet this morning - he was absolutely mugged in that deal.

I can't get my head around the Bulls deal. Was Butler toxic in Chicago? The Bulls loved Dunn last year so they end up with him even though his star has dimmed a bit. LaVine threatens to be a bit Harold Miner like (other analogies are welcome) in that the flash is never backed by the substance and Markkanen appears to be a tremendous shooter but not much else. Porzingis Light.

Butler is a bona fide star who seems to battle. I suppose they got younger and are pursuing a full rebuild, but they could have gotten a hell of a lot more last year I would think.

In other news, James Dolan remains a clown. I detest him and his stupid kazoo. I can't wait for the Oakley proceedings.

I don't understand the CP3 to Houston move.  Apparently he and Harden talked this out beforehand to make it happen.  Taking the ball out of Harden's hands certainly reduces his effectiveness, and obviously Paul isn't any use playing off the ball.  It just doesn't make any sense to me.  On top of that, Houston traded away an excellent defender and role player in Beverly, when they already can't stop anybody.

I respect Houston taking a big swing, considering most other teams seem to be biding time and hoarding assets until Lebron slows down and the Warriors break up.  Nobody has the stones to take a run at Golden State, and I can understand why.  But this move doesn't make Houston a threat to GSW.  I'm not even sure it makes them better, period.  But it's something.  Credit for that.

I love the NBA, but the offseason this year has been 100x more interesting than the regular season or playoffs.  That's obviously not a good thing.  Hopefully Boston, Washington, San Antonio, or someone else will make a move that will truly threaten the GSW/Cleveland grip on the league.  I'm not sure I can handle another season like the last one.

I'm just as confused. And I've decided to bestow discredit on Houston for the move. Perhaps I'm wrong, but this sounds like a desperate move to: 1. Appease Harden 2. Create a super team because that's what everyone is doing and 3. Sell tickets.

I think they give up a ton. Literally in mass, but also in talent. On paper it looks like a bunch of random pieces, but there are some legit players and, as you alluded to, top notch defenders. The regret may not be borne out until the Warriors drop 150 on them because they don't defend the perimeter. Dekker, Williams, Beverly, Harrell and Liggins provide some combo of height, defense and shooting. Paul is 32 and as interested in defending as Harden is. I'm guessing they have another trick up their sleeve because I'm scratching my head right now.

To be fair, it could work. CP3 is a great spot up shooter from mid and from 3. This also allows an A+ PG on the floor for all 48mins. And Harden's minutes can be conserved so he has something in the tank for playoffs unlike what just happened this year.

And now Melo might be on the way.....w

Also how trash is the east right now?? Wow...

Those three make a compelling team. I wonder how to distribute all the shots but it would certainly come the closest to Olympic Melo, which is the second best Melo after Cuse Melo.

Even though I'm a suffering fan, the Dolan-Steve Mills dumpster fire of 2017 is brilliant stuff. I cannot wait to see how he gets railroaded on this one. Thank God I'm not a Mets or Jets fan because one hopeless organization is enough for me.
