Popular Post Akela3rd Posted June 10, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 10, 2017 This is a cigar I probably never would have bought and this one was part of a magnificent birthday gift from a friend back in October - thanks Andy!I mostly smoke PCs, perlas and robustos so this is on the large side for me but this comp gives me the opportunity to give it a go. It seems light for its size going by the feel of a couple of large Davidoffs I have and a couple of other (not quite so) big cigars. The wrapper is a little knobbly but it feels well filled and well made.Cold draw gives leather and milk chocolate, very like a good Monte 2.Quite mild to start and a little bitter but this soon goes and almond and chocolate are front and centre. Reminds me of the Monte Petit Edmundo I had this morning.Frankly it's not blowing me away - it remains quite mild but the smoke and flavours are nice enough. The burn goes through a very wonky patch that takes repeated corrections to sort out.It settles down in the final third, burning better and getting stronger with a nice bite of black pepper backing up the stronger leather taste, but goes haywire again in the last knocking. It's a shame because I was genuinely looking forward to this but looks like I got a dud. On a plus note however as the sun went down and a slight chill came on the wind I broke out The Hat... Thunder & Lightening '75-'15 9
JohnS Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 Yes, I love the smoking hat and thanks for the review!
TheMonk Posted June 12, 2017 Posted June 12, 2017 Nice job, you must've gotten a dud, though, as the mag56 is generally superb IMO! 2
