Popular Post Akela3rd Posted June 3, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 3, 2017 This was the only one of these I brought with me for a week in the Lake District as I figured it might be too light for the campfire of an evening. Plenty of Quinteros, Cazadores and Party Shorts filled the box for the week, but I chucked this in as I like them, simple as that. The weather was wet and the air damp at the start of the week, but I sparked this up and it held up well in the difficult conditions. It lit well and burned surprisingly consistently throughout, and importantly didn't split as I thought it might given the damp air. Sweet chocolate mixed with a slight earthiness to start, hints of spice but only a touch. The chocolate/cocoa flavour built as the cigar burned down and wasn't lost in the fire smoke that wafted across me. I love the Monte 5 and this just seems like a fatter version, giving more thick smoke and something to chew on. The earth flavour gave way to wood later on, but still playing second fiddle to the cocoa. Ended quite strong, which was a surprise and a welcome one at that as the fire was having trouble with the wet oak and was kicking out plenty of smoke for a while. All in all it did well in the evening, but I think it generally requires more civilized surroundings...
