Quick question:

Is it common for boxes to have a code on the outer cardboard box, but not the box itself. See Exhibit A (yes the code checks out).

Do you store boxes in the other box (if included)?

Quick answer: Yes.
Varnished boxes are kept pretty for presentation, which is the reason they are put in the cardboard outer box.

My boss told me he's a cigar connoisseur. When I asked him what his favorite brand was, he said, "It's a Boy!".

That's an 898 Varnised correct? I think the box codes are not put on the varnished box only the MasterCase and cardboard? My varnished box has no code on it

Yes. La Gloria Medalle are like this as well. Cohiba are not if I recall correctly.

Agreed. I have both. My La Gloria's are not - same varnish on entire outer surface. My Esplendidos have an unvarnished bottom with a stamp.

The MdO boxes are VW-898 and the code is not stamped on the box as the entire box is varnished. The Esplendidos box is a VW-BN box which does not have varnish on the bottom, and therefore has a code stamp. The lacquered BN box (Cohiba Maduro 5, for example) is lacquered on the bottom, and therefore doesn't have the code stamp on the bottom.

So, only varnished 898 boxes, lacquered BN boxes, jars, petacas and special humidors have their codes on the cardboard boxes or outer packaging. All other packaging has the stamp on or in the box itself.

No.

Not Party 898, but apparently HSA is classifying the Inmensos packaging as a VW-898 box? Quite odd. CCW shows it as a VW-BN. The OP's box does look much more like the 2011 Belux No 1 box which is indeed an 898 box, but the LCDH sticker on it and the bar code sticker seem to indicate Inmensos. Hmm.

Ah, now I know why there’s no code on my lacquered BHK52 box, only on the cardboard.
