BuzzArd Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 A while back I asked you all a recommendation for a friend wanting som RyJ for his dad for Christmas. The only boxes I had at home were a (apparently) very nice box of Ex #4 and two boxes of Cazadores. Not willing to part with the #4s and thinking the Cazs might be too strong for a novice (thanks for the recommendations!) I decided to see if I could get a box or two of Short Churchills before the big day. Worked out fine, but I have not seen these codes before in the 100+ boxes I have at home. Anyone have any information on them?
Smallclub Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 No one is familiar with the box code jungle. There are too many fabricas. Unless you track specific codes you can't know where your cigars were rolled. The time when one could purchase Partagas from Partagas, Upmann from José Marti, PL from La Corona, etc., avoiding provincial factories, is long gone.

Has anyone any experience favorable or unfavorable with either box code. Don't care in what factory they were made.
jfire Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 I have some boxes of EOT JUN l(maybe FEB) 16 CoRos. The one box (that is opened to try) is the rawest box of CoRo I have ever tried while being so young. Muddled, raw tobacco.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

But that sure doesn't sound good.... I actually gave him the choice between the two boxes at dinner this evening and he took the EOT box. I stressed they were ROTT and needed time down. Hoping they completely aren't awful and a disappointment for his old man....
Shaunster Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 I have a box of PUO Hoyo petit robusto from april 15, nicely rolled but the 2 tried so far need more time down, as expected really.
El Presidente Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Both EOT and PUO have produced solid cigars. Mid range codes with the ability to deliver top end product but also some average stuff. 1
zeedubbya Posted December 18, 2016 Posted December 18, 2016 Have a couple Short Churchill left from a POU box (can't recall date, box is gone) and they didn't start getting decent until about 60 days rest. Still had some acrid taste until about 90 days. I always tell anyone I give a ROTT box of CC to that they should try one in a couple weeks and if they like it keep smoking them. If they taste bad let them rest 30 days and if they still taste bad let them rest 6 months. Have only had a handful of boxes which didn't turn around post 6 months.
