Indeed!  What a life.  Combat pilot, astronaut, senator, statesmen, gentleman.  We should all be so lucky.  RIP Senator.

I really enjoyed watching his interviews from his Space Shuttle trip.  Here was an experienced pilot and astronaut who got one last ride late in life and it was entertaining and inspiring how excited he was about the whole thing.  Very inspiring and kid-in-a-candy-store all wrapped up into one.

He used to come to the lobbying firm I worked at in college quite often.  He was good friends with one of the owners of the firm.  One day I printed a picture off the Internet for him to sign for me.  He took one look at it and smiled and laughed and said, "This picture isn't real", I said politely "excuse me sir"--He showed me how the picture I had printed showed him in the spacecraft from outside the window.  He said--"I promise you, no one was up there to take this picture."  He signed it and we had a nice laugh.  I'll see if I can find the picture and post it.

 RIP one of the greatest Americans!
