Akela3rd Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 The only PL in my humi, but having been given a box recently they've become a regular fixture. As they're short filler I've mentally grouped them in with Quinteros and tend to grab one when I'm doing something - boot cleaning session today. Looks wise they're a little rough but seem well made and I've had no construction problems so far. A couple have been a little tight on the draw but this one is spot on. There's a bitterness I like in these cigars, not quite peppery, not quite citrus and this one starts with it. Woody, with a creamy edge - very nice indeed. The ash is flakey and brittle but as expected, burn is good throughout and despite being frequently put down as I'm doing other stuff as I smoke and it doesn't need relighting once. Halfway through there's a flavour I can only describe as fishy - had this with one yesterday and wonder if it's the cigar or me - but it soon passes. Deep, rich tobacco flavour takes over, more cream with that bitter edge. White pepper at the finish. Not a complicated cigar (not a complicated review for that matter) but very good. I like these and I do think they'll actually develop a bit within a year or so. And that's it - the boots are clean and the cigar is well and truly nubbed. 1
JohnS Posted October 16, 2016 Posted October 16, 2016 For a short filler cigar, these are great. Nice hint of caramel to them if you can age them a little. Thanks for the review!
