BuzzArd Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Received this stick as a single from our host, thus I have no box code or date. It appears to be a PE quality stick. This is the first RASS I have had the opportunity to smoke. At cold definite sweet tobacco notes are noted. Wrapper is rather light in color with a few blemishes noted. I cut the cigar with my usual V cutter and immediately the head split down to the band. Not going well already… But it lit fine and the draw was fine. Initial impressions upon lighting were some lightly toasted tobacco notes. A medium amount of smoke was produced. Had hoped for more, but it tasted just fine. Throughout this cigar really did not change much from nicely toasted tobacco flavor. Burn was only slightly uneven, and I really didn't experience problems with the wrapper until about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way in whereupon it tried to ravel and was a fight to the finish. A little past the one third mark some over-roasted nuts came through but overall it was fairly one-dimensional. I have a couple of PSP full boxes of these in the humidor and certainly expect more from them. I eventually put it down with about an inch to go after wearing quite a bit of the unevenly burned wrapper. If they were all like this they wouldn't be a bad Saturday morning cigar to bring out to a round of golf or to share with friends who would only work their way through half and then set it down. At most a mild to medium strength cigar. Definitely looking forward to trying some of the others after they rest a while so I certainly am not giving up on the vitola.
JZBdano Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Sounds a lot like my first RASS minus the wrapper split. I've smoked about half a box and I have liked them more and more but still nothing special. I will have no problem keeping my hands off the cab in my cooler for a few years. Thanks for the review.
TheMonk Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Nicely done. Do try some more when you can, they're definitely worth it!
