subport Posted August 26, 2016 Posted August 26, 2016 It was THE day. In many ways. Shit happens, right? Woke up 6:30. Prepare, make, eat, get them ready. 8:00 kids are in kindergarten, wife ready to go. Great, I decided to go to the workshop, do some computer work, maybe something else too - easy 2 cigar day. In there. Took a Monte 4 to take off my plane. Coffee ready, good. Smells nice, fresh grounded black. Lit the cigar. Phone rang. A good friend of mine: “-Hey Peter, I´m in a trouble. -Oookay, what can I do for you? (what a f*cking start I thought, straight to the point) -Look, you know I bought that new apartment and I really need to take everything there today, because my wife…bla bla bla… Could you maybe please bla bla -Mate, I´m at work, but let me plan my day. How long do you think it takes? -Nothing to worry about! I mean it! Just help me with the big ones. Should´nt take more than an hour and I´ll do the rest alone. -All right man, I think I can make it. But look, I´ve just lit my cigar up. I´ll be there after one hour or so. -Great man, thank you so much. Hm, this Monte is fantastic, I don´t want to rush it. Damn, this was not my plan for today, but yeah why not. One hour, that´s what friends do. Hour later, still in the cigar. Text him, I´ll be there 20 min or so…No reply. (cool he is busy preparing everything - me so naive) Arrived. Knock-knock. Nothing. Bim-bam. Nothing. Phone…Finally takes it: -Hey hey -I´m here mate -Sorry I fell asleep again…and a story, and bla bla -Said I´m here, could you just let me in? -Sh*t, sorry, sure… Coffee, stories, net, phone, things…like I planed to stay for a week or so… -Mate, what it´s all about? -Okay, we just need to move those 2 freezers, the fridge, the washing machine, the bed, the couch, the sofa, the drier, the dishwasher, the table and so on and so on… -Ohm…okay. “Only” those mate? Are you sure? Haha. Is everything empty? -No mate, I was gonna do it, but fell asleep… -Great, we won´t make it in an hour… Goddamn it, move your arse boy. Look, I cannot stay longer than 12. -Ohh, okay why? -Whatever man, let´s just do it. Shall we? So things are moving, tick-tock, Up, and down and up down… floors, stairs… in the van, get there, out and so on… 3 trips…12o´clock. -What else left over there? -Nothing man, we made it, I appreciate it so much, I owe you one, thanks so much… -No worries, nothing at all… (sweating and back pain, and scratches here and there, 4 hours f..ed, nothing happened at work)” I´m back to the workshop. Wife calls. Hey can you just run to the kindergarten and give Aron this and that because we forgot it in the morning. Oh yeah, I can do everything. It´s only 20 km away…on the road…Done. Back to work only to find out that my RyJ Ex 4 is plugged. I mean I can´t even put air through it with a compressor. No, I wanna smoke! Go home again, out in the garden, rain. Heavy rain. To the other side, there is a roof over there. Cut the El Principe. Wind tunnel. Ahh someone does not want me to smoke now…But I do want to. Turned out good actually. Needed to slow down but… No, Im not going there again. Lets call the day off. Good afternoon, crying kids, nervous wife, Im about to explode… Here we are. Deep in the night. Finally with a Cohiba Lancero, cool. Was not a good plan, to smoke it as a third cigar today. Should have been the first, or the only one. My palate is… whatever. Light wood on cold draw. Perfect draw. Starts woody. Hell it is so creamy. The ash dropped on me after 1/2 inch. Huh? Its mild to medium. Sweet. Honey sweetness. Mouth coating clouds of smoke. Citrus, hay/grass. It´s a Cohiba man. Ash on me again, wtf? Bit of spice in there and sweetened coffee. Like a sweet latte. Pretty good, enjoying it a lot. The aroma is fantastic. The ash is getting stronger and I´m enjoying the razor sharp burn. No touch up at all so far. Difficult to pick up a clear flavour note at this point. Everything is melted together and linked and chained. Lovely, pretty elegant. Stays like that all the way. Everything is there but nothing is overwhelming. Balanced smoothie. Great cigar. 4
JohnS Posted August 27, 2016 Posted August 27, 2016 There's nothing...nothing like an aged Cohiba to savour away the end of a big day like yours. Great review! 1
