Just got an email from Travelzoo that I had to open titled, "$99* -- JetBlue Flights to Cuba from Ft. Lauderdale, O/W".  Their flights are to Camaguey, Holguin, and Santa Clara.  It is probably not going to get you to the meet-up in November at a cheaper fare, but hopefully it is a sign of things to come!   The original article can be found here...

It probably wouldn't be bad for a quick "culture" trip down to Cuba if you lived near Ft. Lauderdale.  I don't know much about these cities.

American Airlines also announced flights to Cuba starting Sept 7th, but no dates to Havana at this time. Thanks for the post!

There are possibly a bunch of other ticky-tack fees: JBlue says they sell the Visa for $50, there is a medical insurance requirement and I'm not sure that all of the taxes are included. JBlue says a flight to Holguin is $205 but not sure if that includes the additional fees. Also bag policies may vary greatly amongst the airlines. ABC Charters (using AA to Havana) is still quoting $450 RT+ all the fees. Cubano....what was your total price and what did it include?

Very interested in this thread! There's several charters out of MIA that are roughly $450. Look like price is 6-in-1,1/2 dozen in the other to fly through mexico but with less hassle coming through the US.

JetBlue is Flying out of Ft Lauderdale with Xael Charters on Fridays $340 RT+ the fees: ($90 Visa, $25 exit tax, baggage fees). That may change greatly in November. My guess is that they'll be hovering around the $200 mark initially until the 1st snow. John

If you want to go on American to Varadero on a commercial flight Nov 16-20 they have it at $577. Varadero is the closest airport to Havana that has a price schedule at this moment. John
