cardinalfan85 Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 Bolivar Emperador ER Russia 6.2" x 48 A 2011 release I dig this out on a nice 70 degree day in North Carolina. Light breeze, just perfect. The wrapper is a pale brown. Straight cut, the cold draw is not too loose not to tight. I taste an herbal tea. Light her up. Harsh, Metallicy, bitter. Tons of smoke output. I bust out a Dr. Pepper to wash this down. The harshness continues for a few minutes with each puff. I remember it was the same the last time I had one of these cigars almost a year ago. About 1/2 an inch in flavors have mellowed. Floral, cream. A hint of that San Pelligrino sparkling water. I have not had a cigar that tates like this, it is interesting... Ash falls. Into the second part. Another puff. Floral, grassy, honey. I can dig it. Distinct vanilla and roasted marshmellows right now. I like that! I have to relight. Possibly operator error. Still tons of creamy smoke. Not sure how to describe the flavors I am getting at the moment. I am admittedly still pretty new, it is a little salty, I'm going to go with cured meat with the grassy flavors in the back seat though. More Salty, savory meat. No pepper at all. I ash and purge. I take a step outside. The honey sweetness comes back! Lovely. Light honey on a biscuit. This is a long cigar! I usually smoke sticks that are 5 inches or less. Now I'm getting a floral, sea breeze. It takes me back to when I lived in Hawaii growing up. Riding my bike to the ocean climbing up a hill and watching for whales in the distance. Those were the days! I've been at this cigar for about 80 minutes now and I am taking off the bands. I think I'm back to salted meats now. Not my favorite flavor from a cigar. It is time to say farewell. All in all this was a different cigar. As it was made for Russian tastes I can't complain. I would not search out for any more of these though. I will score it an arbitrary 89 because it had it's moments when I was on cloud 9 but there were many moments when I was dreading another puff. Thanks for reading!
cardinalfan85 Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 Think I misunderstood what "Rocking Jocks" meant haha! I really wanted to like this cigar though!
