kuma Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Just a heads up. Just came through Nice Airport terminal 2 and hit the duty free shop on the way out of "Cote d' Azur". Large selection of habanos in the walk in Humi. Not much in the way of RE's or LE.'s but core brands a plenty. Well stocked in Cohiba's, etc, etc,......
gojira Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Yes, French duty free shops are rather well stocked with CC's but they are around the same price as in cigar stores here in France. So there's not much of a bargain to be had. But it's always nice to purchase some cigars before leaving the country. I'm flying to the US on Sunday and already look forward to visiting one of the shops at the Paris airport. The biggest one I have visited so far is the one in the terminal with flights towards SE Asia. Don't remember which terminal that was though.
Ryan Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 Possibly terminal 2E in Charles de Gaulle. Good range of aged and RE there. Last month they had quite a few boxes of 25 Bolivar Tubos No 1 from 2002 for 140. Very good cigar from a very good year at a fantastic price. 1

Are all (or any) of the duty frees at CDG accessible to INBOUND international travelers who are not in transit (ie. destination is France)?
Ryan Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 As far as I know, I don't think so, but I can't be 100% sure. I know the duty free area in 2E requires passing though security, even in transit, and producing a boarding card. If your final destination is Paris, then you won't have an onward boarding card to get through that security to get to the duty free area.
kuma Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Sounds like he is heading to the US and should be able to access CDG TRML 2E. Not sure what they had at 2E CDG but at Nice Tubos and SLB's were a plenty. Cohibas Sig. III, Upmann 46's and Bolivars all in tubos. The CC's SLB's were Cohiba VI's, V's, III's also Partagas 898's, D4's, Chicos (not sure what they are) and also a travel pouch leather ( 5 Robustos) of various brands. Anyway I know I'm missing some but hey I was focused on tubos, always have had good luck with them. 1
ErikB Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 Word of warning - a year ago all their stock was completely dried out
kuma Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Not now! Looks like they must of re-stocked and I checked my tubos and they are firm to the touch.
gojira Posted March 30, 2016 Posted March 30, 2016 They were very well stocked when I traveled to Laos in November.
kuma Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Also went to the small town in Italy just over the border with France on the coast via spray painted train. God every city or small town I visited along the route was pretty run down with the exception of SanRemo. Want I did find and for most bolt / solt it is not such a big deal were Siglo II in tubos at the train station in Ventimiglia. Upon opening the tubos they all were that dark rich choc. color that if graded by FOH would fall somewhere between PSP and top end HQ. Love that little grimmy train station. The town is shot. Looks as if the powers that be in (Italy) show no love here. SanRemo a different story well maintained great places to eat looks like people have or take pride in keeping their town up to snuff. Big gap between France and Italy in that area. As soon as you cross the border into Italy not only can you see the change but you can sense it, such a shame. Oh a small word of caution. Every train station frm Nice heading east along the coast to Italy you will find either armed police with between two or three fire arms on them or in France at train stations and airports Fed. police local police and legionares armed to the teeth. It has been about a little over a week since the bombing in Brussels and in a way I was conflicted about the current situation there. Twice at the airports in France (CDG and Nice) they used a brush the size of the ones women use to apply their blush to their face to sweep my hands to make sure I had no bomb making dust on them. In a way I was happy to get back to the US where it has been not as crazy as Europe give or take a local nut job taking out their anger on innocents. Good luck and by all means don't let the radicals keep you from enjoying the sights of the world and stoping you from going where you want to go and enjoying yourself. 1
