after yesterday's fun with my sister and her nasty encounter coming out of the pool, i could have done with a few days break. get up this morning and wandering around for a bit until i see the door - looks like a large piece of rubber on the seal is loose. no, four or five feet of snake on the inside of the door. first one i have had inside, that i know of, since i moved in. plenty of other things sneak in (ayala amongst them).

pretty sure it was a whip snake - not likely to kill me but would more than ruin easter. took me about an hour to get rid of it. and then two hours to clean up the mess from chasing it about the house. sadly, i ended up killing the poor thing accidently. it was behind a bookcase which had tiny little stump legs. i was rocking it to try and get the thing out so i could get it out of the house through the door. seems when rocking it, i brought one of the stumpy legs down on its head and pancaked the thing.

We have very different definitions of "fun".

Good on you for trying to get it out alive. You can't feel bad after that effort.

You don't have to waste him...hang him from the front door as an example to his friends, who may have ideas of moving in as well.

Good on you for not trying to kill it. I encounter poisonous snakes on a regular basis and unless they pose an immediate threat, I let them be or relocate them as the situation allows.
