kuma Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 Just read and I quote; CACR/EAR the last few sentences "this authorization will allow, for example, Americans traveling to Europe to purchace and consume Cuban-orgin alcohol and tobacco products while abroad similar to the travel exemptions in other sanction programs. Does this mean that these said products in terms of bring them back from Europe are governed by the same travel rules that apply in general to tabac / booze from countries other than Cuba. Example; Leaving France CDA with 2 bottles of high end French wine and heading to JFK airport NY. In other words the same amount that is ok for the french wine will be the same as two bottles of Cuban rum purchased say in Spain. If that is the case looks like any cigars from Cuba the bands and boxes can stay intact. Wow that is a game changer for us yanks if this is the case. We have hid in the shadows and playing a cat and mouse game with "border patrol / customs since Castor kicked our asses out of Cuba.
Fshaw Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 No, importation of Cuban goods is still not authorized unless traveling directly from Cuba. I read the update to the Federal Register that will be published tomorrow and it expressly deals with importation, even in hand luggage. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
JoeyW Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 what i understand of it is that you can legally consume cuban goods oversees... like smoke cuban cigars while on a trip to spain
luv2fly Posted March 15, 2016 Posted March 15, 2016 No on bringing them back but yes while you are there. Nobody was ever looking there for us consuming Cuban goods while overseas. Even the "Governator" did it!! 1
garbandz Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 purchace and consume Cuban-orgin alcohol and tobacco products while abroad similar to the travel exemptions in other sanction programs. They cannot stop us anyway,so they remove the joy of forbidden fruit..........
kuma Posted March 16, 2016 Author Posted March 16, 2016 Even if the cigar is bought in a Euro country. Say if I purchased a "My Father Cedros Deluxe Cervantes" which is made in Nicaragua but payed for and brought into US say from Spain. Us gov. says you can bring 100 of them into US for personal use. I read in the last pragraph of the CACR/EAR and it sounded like the same situation that applies for a "My Father" cigars would also apply for the Cuban cigar(s) bought in a Euro country and brought back to the states from Spain. .
