2001 Siglo V

Hey Guys,

I got this cigar a few months back in Spain, and in my excitement of being in a LCDH, I forgot what type of Cohiba it was. I do remember that the box was dated 2001. From measuring it, I get 6 5/8" by 40 ring gauge, which makes me think it is a Siglo V. Any opinions?

Also, if it is in fact an 01 siglo V, any suggestions on the best time to smoke it? ASAP? Whenever is convenient? 5 more years?

A Fifteen (15) year old Cohiba; I say smoke it now alongside a few drams of equally at par scotches. You don't want to wait so long that it goes past its prime and you miss out on experiencing all that it was. At five years one must try one; at ten years if they are firing on all cylinders then label the box dessert and smoke away .

Just my two cents based on having waited too long to experience the magic that can be which has but long passed.

15 years is just fine. You're not really going to get much more out of it by waiting any longer.

I will say that 2001 was a time of great variance in Cuban cigars. Hopefully it's great but don't be surprised if it's a dud. Let us know how it turns out.

Looks Awesome. Hope it smokes well. I have had more than my share of plugged 2000-2001 cubans. Will never buy them again.

Smoke it slow.......akin to having an airtank with 30 minutes of oxygen remaining and you have 40 minutes to the surface.
