Randolph Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Hello old chap, Personally I prefer the Secretos over the Exquisitos. I find the Exquisitos a very film rolled cigar and have been very hit and miss in construction/burn. The Secretos on the other hand has been much more consistent in build. Secretos lots of chocolate and a more fully figured smaller cigar. Maduros Genios disappointed me as I found it too mild and one dimensional.
El Presidente Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Two very different cigars. I smoke them when in very different moods. Secreto (and they have to be good quality ones) is Sunday morning with coffee and a paper. Medium full bodied and rick cocoa/choc/toasted tobacco notes. Exquisitos is creamy, woody, slight sweetness. Mid bodied. Neither cigar I would buy blind. With the Secreto it is mostly an issue of getting the right wrapper (thin, dark, oily) and with the Exquisitos it is about the roll. You get a tight box and you will be cursing it non stop as you try and relight it time and time again throughout the cigar. 4
bb360 Posted December 13, 2015 Posted December 13, 2015 Both ok, save your money buy genios instead .
JohnS Posted December 14, 2015 Posted December 14, 2015 I enjoyed two Secretos gifted this weekend (thank you Trevor and Will!). They were both over 5 years old and were quite nice for a change of pace. Yes, those sweet chocolate and cocoa married with the quintessential Cohiba flavours and stronger, like El Pres has mentioned. The Exquisitos is a sweet cream stick, especially as it ages. At 36 ring gauge by 125 mm in length (a little under 5 inches), yes it's a delicate size that is harder to roll. I again concur with Rob...don't get this one blind, but if you get a quality box, you will be grateful!
