Best Casa Particular in Havana

Hello,

I remember reading a thread in which one casa particular was recommended, but I cannot find it anymore... I think it was Casa Marisol or Maribel, but could be wrong.

I'm entertaining the idea of going to Havana and staying in a casa particular for the first time.

Which one(s) FOHers recommend!?

I didn't say it was cheap.

Defining "best" depends what you want from a casa.

There are certain things you need to know.

Independent apartment/house or B&B style where the owner lives on location and will provide breakfast etc.?

Number of rooms you need.

Location. Habana Vieja, Vedado, Miramar etc.

Tempting... it is close to Club Habana! And good point: best is always relative.

You're right: I should have been more specific. B&B style, couple of rooms. Every neighbourhood in Havana has its pros so I am pretty easy. Just has to be clean, comfortable in a good location... looking for the gems that FOHers have found over the years.

I haven't stayed here but I have been in touch with the owner. She seems nice. 4 bedrooms, well located, pool table, $370 a night for the entire.

At the other end of the spectrum there's here. I stayed here in Nov 2011. Carlos has good english, they are both extraordinarily nice. Outside the building you may think "wtf" but once inside it's very clean. Great corner bar around the corner. Cheap at $30 per night per room.

This one is very well located just off the Malecon beside the US Embassy. I haven't stayed here but I have visited friends staying here a few times. It's very nice, pool is clean and brilliant view. $300 per night for 3 bedrooms. 3 years ago this was $150 per night, now $300. Prices are going up everywhere,

Then there is this place. $380 per night for 5 rooms, up to 10 guests. I haven't stayed here but it looks nice. Handy location.
