ElPuro Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 We are renovating our sunporch (my cigar "room") and it got me thinking: Any other DIYers here? Post pics of your work. Here is a before and after of one of our bathrooms.
airtrade Posted October 16, 2015 Posted October 16, 2015 I have a few, they never seen to get finished! Too busy having a cigar....lol BTW nice tile work.
brschoppe Posted October 17, 2015 Posted October 17, 2015 Nice tile work! I did a bathroom floor on the townhouse I owned at the time. My knees never killed me more. That is a lot of work and your tile looks really nice. I like how you took it all the way to the ceiling. I am a big guy and always end up spraying water on the wall when washing my hair on a shower where they stopped the tile short of the ceiling.

Also raised the shower head. Hate it when they are seemingly knee level.
hulklogan Posted October 21, 2015 Posted October 21, 2015 I'm thinking of making bunk beds for my girls... any tips?
ElPuro Posted October 21, 2015 Author Posted October 21, 2015 No personal experience here. Might suggest looking at commercial options or craigslist (ditching the mattresses of course) for that kind of item. I find that you can score some pretty good deals (maybe needing a paint job, etc.) for at or less than the cost of a self build. We picked up a set for free two weeks ago for our little ones. Parents often can't wait to get rid of stuff like that.

perkinke Posted October 22, 2015 Posted October 22, 2015 Just two holes in a Coleman cooler, two blocks of ice inside and turn on the small desk fan on the back. Does a decent job of cooling a small space a few degrees.
PointFivePast Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 This is the peak of my diy skills: the hillbilly air conditionerImageUploadedByTapatalk1445485815.596625.jpg It took me second to figure to out but that's brilliant! Did you come up with it during the heatwave this summer? Everyone I knew was scrambling for AC units and all the stores sold out.
perkinke Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 I wish I could claim it as my idea, but I saw pictures several years ago and then found it again on YouTube. It definitely helped cool our bedroom enough to sleep at night during our 100-degree plus weeks this summer.

ElPuro Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 Thanks. Here's the current sunroom reno. This is a very basic job. Had to reframe to replace some rotted wood, patch, repaint, and am installing pot lights. Will replace ceiling with soffit/siding material, patch flooring and put in new carpet
ElPuro Posted October 24, 2015 Author Posted October 24, 2015 I am motivated to get it done as my wife doesn't care if I smoke there.
