Anyone had auchentoshan American oak, 21 or 3 Wood?

-Patrick

Yep - Three Wood is an inexpensive and very smooth single malt, worth having a go.

Some may find it lacking in character because it can be quite one-dimensional.

I have the Three Wood and 12 YO both very good. Yesterday i bought the Valinch and the American Oak both good but I find the valinch to be "oily"

I've had the three wood and the 21. Auchentoshan doesn't do much for me. Very light and not offensive, but the 21 is poor value and the three wood is just okay. I think I like something with more flavor and more sherry.

Just finishing up a bottle of the three wood. Bought it on the recommendation of a friend. I guess it won a bunch of awards, so I'm told. Nice...Sherry wood, wood and more wood as the name denotes. Very smooth and minimal heat on the finish. No peat if you are a peat fan. Triple distilled. Sherry, hazel nut cane sugar sweetness. Best served neat IMHO. At $65-70 bottle on the borderline as far as value.Worth a try for sure.

Recently, I have been impressed with a bottle of Abelour Abunadh cask strength. Batch #47....fantastic single malt! Not for the beginner. One large ice cube and let it sit for a few and enjoy. Price point around $60 at our local Costco makes for a pretty good deal.
