Optic101 Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Montecristo No. 4, Saturday, 15 August 2015 Box Code MUL MAY 14 (box 1, lighter wrapper) Box No.1 refers to the double review back in October. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=120451&hl= Had a few from this box since then which been all good and thought this is a good opportunity to take proper notes and compare. Pairing: Water Construction: nice firm to the touch, front a bit spongy Cold draw, a bit on the loose side, sweet undertone with a bit of coca First draw: MoccaChocolatta Medium flavor strength, coffee, coca, chocolate, toasted bread. Nice draw now with lots of smoke, good burn. Strength increased to medium full, coffee is more on the espresso side toasted bread, coca and a slight sweetness smoothing everything out. On and of some licorice and nuts. 2nd Strength back to medium. A cafe latte with a hint of vodka. Sweet plum. Very smooth now, just under medium, coffee with toasted chocolate bread. Very good burn and draw. Last 3rd More sweetness, more milk chocolate. Some nuts in and out. Strength slightly up, more nuts. Smoking time: 1hr Comparing this one to the first out of the box back in October: More volume, more depth, more rounded. A very good cigar from a great batch. A joy to smoke. Thanks for reading. 4
phreedh Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 thanks for posting - liked the format a lot! Never been a monte man so can't comment on the smoke. 1
Homebrew Posted August 15, 2015 Posted August 15, 2015 Up until recently, I was never a fan of Montes. In the last year, I have become a huge fan. Probably has to do with hand picked stock, rather than buying blind. Your review is dead on, with my findings. Thanks for the review. Dave (A.K.A. Homebrew) 1
