PanelVanGogh Posted August 5, 2015 Posted August 5, 2015 Hi all, My name is Dougal and I’m a transplanted Aussie currently living in Auckland New Zealand. My first exposure to Cuban cigars was memorable for all the wrong reasons - aged around 10 or 11 a cousin and I liberated a couple of RyJs from my father’s stash and promptly made ourselves extremely ill by inhaling the rich smoke deeply down into our lungs like we had seen cigarette smokers do. Fast forward 40’ish years and I’ve found my second attempt at the hobby a little more enjoyable. So far I’ve enjoyed a few selected singles, the odd 3 and 5 pack and a 10 box of Montecristo Petit Edmundos picked up from the duty free at Singapore Airport which were ok but nothing to write home about. The low point so far has been the Jose L Piedra Cazadore (smoking the cardboard box would have been more enjoyable), and the high point was a sublime aged Monte #4 I picked up from a tobacconist in Canberra. In more recent times I’ve discovered the good people at *****int and have picked up a box each of Partagas Shorts (pretty good) and Bolivar PCs (bloody brilliant) Hoping to pick up some ideas here on what to try next.
